This course introduces students from basic to advanced level of classical and contemporary landscape  painting with emphasis on the understanding of its formal language and the fundamentals of artistic expression.  Painting from landscape, reproduction of old master and photos will be explored.  Color theory, linear perspective, atmospheric perspective, compositional structure, figure/ground relationships and visual perception will all be emphasized extensively. Student will study and research major painting styles and movements in historical context.
