Still Life Drawing for Kids

Still Life Drawing for Kids

In this course, students will be taught how to draw, how to measure, and the rules of shape and freehand sketching techniques using pencils and produce artworks based on the exercises they follow in the drawing class . This course will develop the child’s perspective, drawing and observation skills. Students will be familiar with the table of value and how to shade the different materials.

This course introduces children to the fundamentals of still life drawing through structured observation-based lessons. It consists of two parts, each totaling 12 hours. Students will learn to draw from observation and photos depend on the capability of the kids, starting with simple objects, and gradually advance to more complex compositions. They will also develop an understanding of value and shading, beginning with basic geometric shapes in Level 1 and progressing to more detailed still life drawings in higher levels.

After completing both parts, students can apply for a KHDA-approved certificate. The course offers up to four levels for those who wish to continue enhancing their skills.

What They Will Learn:

  • How to draw still life objects from observation or reference photo with attention to proportion and detail.
  • Basic shading techniques to create dimension and depth in their drawings.
  • Understanding values and light in still life compositions.
  • In Level 1, students will focus on single and geometric objects.
  • In higher levels, they will tackle more complex compositions with greater detail.

Benefits:

  • A structured, academic approach to still life drawing, adapted from adult-level programs.
  • Personalized guidance to build confidence in drawing and shading.
  • An opportunity to earn a KHDA-approved certificate after completing two parts.
  • The option to continue with more levels to further improve artistic skills.

Output:

  • Completed still life drawings demonstrating understanding of values, shading, and composition.
  • A solid foundation in drawing from observation and building more detailed compositions.
